if it takes a “pope on a rope” gadget to make more people around here conscious of the pope’s visit to america this week, then so be it. at least that was the thinking of brian gismervik of west ashley, a catholic who serves in the coast sentinel and who showed up at the riverdogs baseball diversion saturday to see their latest wacky giveaway. it was a string attached to a bar of soap imprinted with pope benedict xvi, who arrives in washington today. …
